Where We Are Now (Summer 2025)

The call toward Cambodia wasn’t loud at first. It started as a quiet thought, a seed that didn’t even make sense to us. But as time went on, it grew. Through two dreams and some surprising confirmations, the pieces began to come together. And when we looked back, we realized: Cambodia had been woven into our journey for years in what we noticed, what stirred us, even what we prayed for without understanding.

We believe God was, and still is, preparing us.

Once the dreams made sense, we began praying intentionally. We knew it wasn’t something to rush. It would take time and preparation. So we took the next right steps.

We reached out to people with experience in the field. We found a local Khmer teacher (who, in what felt like a God-cidence, is also a Christian), and started language and culture lessons. We visited a Cambodian church and were warmly welcomed, it felt like being adopted into a family. That connection has meant more than we can explain.

We also studied Cambodia’s spiritual climate: the struggles, needs, and deep longing we believe God sees. At the same time, we began shaping this store around the mission, trusting that our work here could become a stream of support for the road ahead.

Has it been easy? Not at all. Emotionally, it’s been a roller coaster.

There was a season where we had the funds ready but our only vehicle broke down completely, and we had to pour it all into repairs. It was discouraging. But through it, we learned to let go of our timeline and rest in His. One word we received along the way said this wouldn’t happen how we expected. And that’s been true. But it’s also been better, deeper. More refining.

Our kids have embraced the journey in their own way. They love attending the Cambodian church with us, and that joy confirms again that this isn’t just our calling, it’s theirs too.

Right now, we’re not just planning. We’re waiting. Preparing. Trusting. We’re asking God to keep shaping us for what’s ahead and to reveal His heart more clearly as we go. There’s peace in that. And hope.

We don’t know every detail. But we know the One who called. And that’s enough.
